How to Care for Hardwood Floors

While hardwood floors are structurally strong, they can be susceptible to wear over the years. You can help maintain and lasting beauty by following some of these helpful guidelines to caring for your hardwood floors. Check out these simple 3 methods in order to maintain your floors properly.

Method 1: Taking care
  1. Avoid using regular household dusting and cleaning products
  2. Never use water to mop the floors
  3. Don’t use ammonia
  4. Never use wax on a floor with a urethane or other glossy finish
  5. Don’t drag furniture when moving it
Method 2: Protecting hardwood floors

  1. Vacuum
  2. Use sheers or blinds to protect your floors from the discoloration caused by direct sun rays
  3. Keep high-heeled shoes in good repair and avoid using stiletto heels or just remember to always remove shoes at the front door
  4. Keep nails and claws trimmed on pets
  5. Use cotton area rugs and mats in high traffic areas and sites of frequent spill
  6. Rubber and vinyl mats and rugs trap water under them
  7. Clean up spills immediately with a paper towel or dry cloth
Method 3: Microfiber cleaning
  1. Use a damp flat mop with a microfiber head to sweep up hair and dirt
  2. Spray a clean microfiber mop head with orange glow floor cleaner
  3. Wash the floor with it and rinse when dirty
  4. Respray the mop head each time you rinse the dirt out
