Follow these simple steps to prevent, clean and repair the damages in your precious wood floor all by yourself.
Prevent Scratches
- When placing or moving furniture around your wood floors be sure to place pads
- Place rugs or runners in areas where a lot of people walk through
- If you have a pet at home keep their nails trimmed regularly
- Use a soft haired broom to sweep the floors
Remove Water Stains
- Add very little mineral onto an extra-fine steel wool pad and rub in a circular motion
Remove Food Stains
- Wipe down the stained area using a damp cloth, after rub dry and wax
Repair Dents
- Sand the wood floor down till only the raw wood is left and after refinish it
- Wet area, put a wet cloth on top, then move a hot iron in a circular motion (3-5 min)
Repair Scratches
- Use a buffer to scuff-sand floor and apply a coat or two of wood finish
- Hide surface scratches with a stain-filled marker touch up
- Rub a small amount of paste wax and then use a soft cloth to buff it
- Shallow scratches can be cover by rubbing shelled nuts in the crack
- Use extra fine sandpaper to softly buff scratched or chipped spots
