Hardwood Flooring Trends For Spring!

Do you have new wood floors on your spring to-do list? Before diving into the project, you may want to consider some of the latest hardwood flooring trends. New designs, textures and colors can really make a bold impact in your home. After all, you’re tired of the same floors everyone else has, right?

Wider Boards
While narrow boards were once the preference, 7” is becoming very popular and even wider widths are readily available. Wide floor boards used to only be common in rustic settings, but are now being used regularly in contemporary homes.

Why go wider? There are much fewer bevels in floors that use wider boards, making the floor look less busy or choppy. The same is also true with longer board lengths.

Texture
Smooth floors are a thing of the past. Today, people are opting for hand-scraped and wire brushed  floors that leave you with a more custom look. Additionally, textured surfaces tend to show less scratches and blemishes in the wood. While some of the more inexpensive hand-scraped floors are actually manufactured using machines, some of the more expensive options are actually created by hand.

Color
Tired of seeing very dark or very light hardwood floors? How about something in the middle - like gray? A process called fuming, to achieve a natural gray color, has been showing up quite often as of late. This technique gives White Oak an aged look without emphasizing the wood’s grain. So if traditional colors aren’t your thing, this is the perfect solution.
