Make Your Hardwood Floors Shine!

Just like people, hardwood floors can look weathered and dull as they grow older. If what was once a shiny, beautiful focal point of your living room is now a worn out mess it may be time for some sprucing. See below to find out how to get your floors to shine like new again:

Refinish Test
If your floors are old and dull they may need to be refinished. But this is not always the case, so how can you tell? If you put a few drops of water on the most worn out part of the floor and the water beads up, this is a good sign. However, if the water soaks into the floor and turns white or gray you ought to consider having them refinished.

Don’t Mop A Dirty Floor
If your idea of cleaning your floors involves taking a mop directly to the surface, you’re making a mistake. Hardwood floors should be thoroughly swept and vacuumed before any sort of mopping takes place.

A Little Cleaner Goes A Long Way
No matter how dirty your floors are, don’t be tempted to use a ton of cleaner. Too much solution and too much water can really damage your floors so remember, a little goes a long way. Once you finished with the cleaning solution, make sure to buff your floors dry. Use a microfiber cloth or a flat mop to go over the floors, and then sit back and enjoy the shine!
