Preparing Your Home For Vacation

Going on vacation this summer? While we hope you don’t have a worry in the world while you sit on the beach with a nice cold beverage, there are a few things you need to take care of before you leave. Just think about those beautiful hardwood floors of yours sweltering in the summer heat while you’re gone.

Believe it or not, you and your wood floors are a lot alike. When the temperature rises and the humidity becomes uncomfortable, you better believe it’s uncomfortable for your floors as well. That’s why it’s vital to make sure you set your thermostat before you get on that flight.

What temperature should you set your thermostat to so your floors are comfortable? Keep the temperature anywhere between 60 and 80 degrees and make sure the humidity is kept down to 35 to 55 percent. Otherwise you may come home to damaged floorboards, warping or gaps.
