How To Clean A Painted Hardwood Floor

Have a painted hardwood floor? It’s tough to keep spotless, right? Rather than cleaning it with water, which can damage the floor, use a vacuum or a duster instead. See below for some more cleaning tips:

  1. Ground in dust and dirt can wear down the floor’s finish and make it look much older than it really is. Use a vacuum cleaner or a microfiber mop to get rid of the particles and remember that the more often you do this, the better.
  2. Water is a wood floor’s nightmare. Moisture and heat can damage floor boards by causing them to shrink or expand.
  3. Need to touch up the paint? Go over dull areas with a light coat and finish with two coats of polyurethane.
  4. Never choose oil-based polyurethanes. They can alter the color of the floor by making it look yellow or orange.
