How To Make Wood Floors Less Slippery

Have you ever taken a spill on a slippery wood floor? We can tell you it’s not much fun if you haven’t. While wood floors are naturally slippery, there are a few things you can do to combat the issue.

  1. Make sure your floors are clean and dry: to clean them, mix one part vinegar and two parts water. Use a mop to spread the solution around the floor to remove old waxy residues from other cleaning products. Then run a dry mop over the floor to absorb any excess liquid.
  2. Use non-slip pads under rugs: in areas that frequently become slippery, you can place area rugs down with non-slip pads underneath. In areas that may get wet, like in the kitchen and near doorways, use absorbent mats.
  3. What if these remedies don’t work: if none of these solutions work, you can apply a non-skid treatment to your floors. Just make sure you choose a product designed for wood floors.
