Having trouble getting your hardwood floors clean? You can speed up the process while giving your floors a deep clean and even remove stubborn marks as long as you know a few tricks. Read below to find out how making your floors sparkle can be less of a chore:
Dust or Vacuum Weekly
For starters, you should be dusting or vacuuming your hardwood floors weekly. Use a dust mop that has been treated with a dusting agent or use the vacuum with a floor-brush attachment.
Get Rid of Dirt, Oil and Grime
Although you should be dusting your floors weekly, that’s not going to be enough to tackle dirt, oil and grime. For the tougher spots, we recommend using a wood-cleaning product and a sponge or rag mop. Just be sure to wring the mop just about completely dry because too much water on your floors can damage the wood.
Preventive Maintenance
Don’t allow your wood floors to take a beating by placing mats at the entrance of each door. Remind your friends and family members to remove their shoes before entering the room and if you have pets, keep their nails trimmed. Following these steps will help prevent your floors from taking too much abuse and will keep them looking newer, longer.
