Must-Know Wood Floor Cleaning Tips

Is your dirty wood floor getting the best of you? We understand how you feel. Getting a hardwood floor sparkling clean isn’t always the easiest task - unless you follow some of these must-know tips:

  1. Don’t do it all in one shot. What do we mean by this? It’s important to clean your floors at least once a week. This doesn’t mean that you have to perform a thorough deep-cleaning each week, just be sure to use a vacuum or dust mop to pick up dust and dirt.
  2. If you can’t remember the last time you cleaned them and oil and grime has built up over the last several months, you’re going to have to use some extra elbow grease. Bring in the heavier artillery by using a wood-cleaning product but try diluting it with a bit of water. Use a damp mop to get rid of the stains, but remember that too much moisture on your floors can be damaging.
  3. For severe stains or marks, you may need to sand the area and refinish the spot. Steel wool or sandpaper should do the trick, just be prepared to touch up the area once you have removed the marks.
