Stunning floors are one of the most desirable things in a home -- they set a mood, and can tie in an entire room’s theme. Sometimes however, it’s hard to keep those wood floors shining to perfection. Mistakes that homeowners make often include buying expensive products that can either be damaging to the wood or don’t really work -- sometimes it’s best to go back to the basics of cleaning.

Removing scuffs is actually pretty easy. Take some old, non-gel, non whitening toothpaste and gently scrub into the floor. When you’re finished, wipe up the paste with a damp cloth, and then finish with a dry cloth. This should remove a great deal of scuffs -- if not, petroleum jelly on a dry rag yields similar results!
Moving furniture around? Don’t risk scratches! Heavy socks such as wool socks work the best in protecting your floors. Place them over the legs and stumps of the furniture before moving. It’ll protect the floors, and make it easier on your back!
Heel marks aren’t too tough to get out! An easy solution to removing this would be spraying them with an all purpose lubricator, and allow it to sit for 2-4 minutes. Rubbing the marks with a dry, soft cloth should help remove the scuff with ease!
If nothing else, you can always invest in non-chemical based cleaners to help the process. Most of these are non-toxic and won’t damage your floor, or wallet!
