How Can I Clean Wood Floors

Your wood floors are sacred, and should be treated as such. So, how can you go about effectively cleaning them without running the risk of damage? In simple terms, what can i do?
Depending on the finish of your wood and the type of cleaning you’re going to be performing, there are actually a number of ways you can go about getting that spotless shine back on your wood.

The simple mop trick - For small blemishes and dry marks on the wood, sometimes a simple mop is all you need. Wring out a mop until it is damp and gently coat the floor with the warm, soapy water mix. Immediately after, dry the floor using another mop or a towel that is sure to soak up all areas of water. This way, the moisture does not get underneath and into the wood, causing splintering, or any other sort of damage.

Waxing - Some floors have been treated with a penetrating seal or oil, and must be cleaned a bit differently than the rest. For these floors, it’s important to vacuum up any dirt of debris beforehand, as the cleaning process is a bit more meticulous. From here, you must apply a liquid or paste based wax to the floor. This can be applied and buffed in a professional manner, or by hand if the area is small enough.

BONUS: If your finish claims you can use a floor cleaner for cleaning, it’s generally safe to go by their recommendation -- just make sure to test in an inconspicuous place beforehand in order to prevent discoloration. If there’s no recommendation to do so, it’s best to stick with soap and water.
