Opening up your windows during the summer, and winter can be a luxury that many don’t have the opportunity of doing. However sometimes this can lead to faded floors after a period of time. In order to prevent your new floors from looking like they’ve aged 20 years, there are a few things you can do to fix the problem and prevent it from happening in the first place.
Large Rugs
Place a large rug in the room where the sun mainly hits to prevent sunlight from intruding into the room. This works with small rugs which can be moved around, as well as moving around your furniture from time to time. Additionally, blinds and curtains that close when the sun is very bright can help as well, and still let some in to warm the room.
If They’re Faded
If your floors aren’t badly damaged already, you can try re-staining them in order to rid them of fading and looking old. This can be done by finding out the type of wood you have, and the corresponding stain to match. If you have very old or damaged floors, you’ll likely have to replace the boards or have a professional refinish the surface.
