Where Can New Hardwood Flooring Go?

There is a general stigma based on what many homeowners say about their flooring and what can actually be done about it when installation is necessary. Many people will also often tell you where you can actually have your flooring installed, which is also something they shouldn’t be worrying about either. Oddly enough, there are a ton of places in which your wood flooring can actually be installed — we’ve outlined a few of the less known places below!

Basements

Typically, many people won’t have their basement finished with wood, but there’s nothing telling you that you can’t! Actually, if you’re in a low-risk flood zone, there’s no reason you can’t have anything you want installed. Especially because basements sometimes become a second living area for tenants or teenagers, this is the component that can really give them the ‘apartment’ feel they’re looking for!

Kitchens

Another place that many people advise against is the kitchen — but there’s really no merit behind that claim! For a number of reasons, the kitchen can actually be a great place for wood flooring — radiant flooring is just one of them! A nice warm floor in the morning while you’re making breakfast is a great way to wake you up and keep you ready for the day! Just remember to mop up any moisture quickly with wood flooring, as it may cause it to warp or discolor.

Mud Rooms

Now, this is subjective to your home type, but a mud room is also a great place to have wood floors installed, depending on the type of use for the room. If you’re kicking off snow, mud and rocks everyday, it might not be the best idea to have a solid wood floor, however linoleum or rugs might be a good option. In order to preserve the look, it will take more TLC, but it does tie the room together much better than the rest.
